O
ne of the most frequent mistakes effecting volunteer projects in the developing world is our very human tendency to project our view onto others. Growing up in the USA, I have come to realize that I see the world through a particular lens. This lens colors every conversation I initiate, every idea I entertain and every action I feel compelled to take.
I am excited to partner with journalist Lorin Mallorie, community organizer & yoga instructor Jagat Sanon, and the community leaders in rural Savenette Cabrale to offer you a unique cultural immersion opportunity in Haiti.
- Learn how to solve problems collaboratively and from the ground up.
- See yourself, your ideas and your actions through the eyes of others.
- Experience first-hand the challenges of life in an impoverished, rural community.
- Communicate deeply and authentically about real issues.
- Develop a deeper appreciation for your life back home.
- Discover an outlet for your unique skills in the developing world.
- Experience a greater sense of purpose as you play a part in bringing a real community development project to life.
Inspired by the cutting the edge tools of Learning as Leadership and the Strozzi Institute, these programs combine leadership training modules, intercultural dialog, somatic (physical) practices and service learning.
As you travel together with your cohort of fellow participants, you will learn skills that foster stewardship, collaboration, curiosity, trust and synergy as a team.
There is nothing like getting out of your comfort zone to spark needed personal transformation. Expect the adventure to put you in front of your walls, while providing a safe and supportive context in which to grow.
If you would like to find out more about how YOU can be part of a service learning program where you will RECEIVE as much as you GIVE, please contact me today to book your space on the next trip!
